If you have followed our work, you will already know that the SONATA project has worked closely with OSM almost since the project started.
OSM recently announced its Release THREE which includes SONATA’s emulator, as part of the DevOps environment, with our service validation tool planned for inclusion in the next release.
As we already announced, SONATA was present at the the XXIst Edition of FIC-Cape Verde International Fair last week.
Our partner member, Altice Labs, was in charge this time of presenting the European project “SONATA 5G NFV” in Mindelo, Cape Verde. The initiative was a kind invitation the local incumbent operator CVT and was integrated in the “Open Idea” stand dedicated to Innovation.
Our colleague Alberto Rocha, from Altice Labs, was also member of jury of the “The best Idea” contest, where 9 proposals from university students were presented and the best one selected.
Much has been written about the benefits that NFV/SDN technology will bring to telecommunication networks, but there are also some issues and concerns that may have led to the delay in adopting these technologies and may continue to slow down the wide adoption. It seems that the hype/disillusion/reality progression model of the Gartner hype circle is a general fact also applicable to software networks.
Don´t miss this month blog post about the challenges that Software Networks are currently facing!
As announced, SONATA was at the SDN NFV World Congress 2017 that took place last October to present SONATA 3.0, the latest software release of the project delivered last week.
